Prof Andrew Czeizel, Hungary
Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for the Community Control of Hereditary Diseases (1984-) and Scientific director of Foundation for the Community Control of Hereditary Diseases (1991-).
Professor Czeizel is Professor in the Faculty of Genetics, Eötvös Lóránd University of Sciences, Budapest and Invited Professor at the Kossuth Lajos University of National Sciences, Debrecen.
He has editorial responsibilities with several scientific journals (American Journal of Medical Genetics, Journal of Medical Genetics, Human Genetics, Congenital Anomalies) and has won major awards from Hungary and the USA.
He led the establishment of the Hungarian Congenital Abnormalities Registry, 1970, and Case-Control Surveillance of Congenital Abnormalities, 1980 and has published his research widely.
As a volunteer consultant to the UMC, he reviews the results of the regular computerised screenings of ADR reports in foetal disorders and female reproductive disorders.
