Frederick (Rick) W. Fraunfelder, (MD)
Following a BA in Economics at Baylor University, Waco, Texas, Rick Fraunfelder undertook his medical studies Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon. He was Resident Medical Officer, Alice Springs Hospital, Australia from 1995-97 and Ophthalmology Resident, University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle, Washington from 1997-2000.
Since 2000, he has been Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, Cornea/External Disease, Ocular Oncology, and Refractive Surgery, Casey Eye Institute, Oregon Health Sciences University, Portland, Oregon. He is the Director of the National Registry of Drug-Induced Ocular Side Effects (2000-present).
In addition to many journal articles and book chapters, Rick Fraunfelder is co-author of Drug-Induced Ocular Side Effects (Media, Pennsylvania: Butterworth, 5th edition, 2000).
As a volunteer consultant to the UMC, he reviews the results of the regular computerised screenings of ADR reports within the System Organ Class of visual disorders.
