Funding of Uppsala Monitoring Centre

The UMC receives no regular funding of any kind from any commercial external source. The important worldwide work is financed solely by the organisation itself through selling certain services related to global pharmacovigilance to external bodies, without support from WHO, the Swedish Government, member countries of the WHO Programme, except for occasional one-off grants.

The UMC has been effective in funding itself, but at the cost of considerable resources needed to generate income, and without the long-term security which such an international enterprise might be expected to enjoy.
